Publish a web novel and earn money
Most platforms let you publish a web novel. Very few pay you for it without a detour through Patreon, ad revenue thresholds or convertible points. LitFic is built the other way round: earning is native. You set a LitCoin price on the chapters you choose, readers unlock them, and you keep 50 percent of every unlock in pounds sterling. Here is exactly how it works, with the real numbers.
The economics, in plain English
LitCoins are the platform currency and the exchange rate never moves: one LitCoin is one penny (0.01 GBP). When you mark a chapter as premium or early access, you set its price in coins. A reader who unlocks it spends those coins, and half the price is credited to you as cash. Price a chapter at 50 coins and you earn 25p per unlocking reader; a hundred readers is 25 GBP; a serial with a loyal readership earns chapter after chapter, month after month. Your earnings accrue in pounds in your payouts dashboard, and once you pass 10 GBP you withdraw to your bank through Stripe. No gift cards, no platform scrip, no minimum follower count.
One detail authors appreciate: readers can also earn small amounts of free coins around the Ever After Group, and when someone unlocks your chapter with free coins, you are still paid the same. The platform absorbs that cost rather than passing it to you.
Two ways in: The Commons and Originals
The Commons is open to everyone. Make a free account, create your series, and publish your first chapter today. You keep the rights to your work and there is no exclusivity demand. To keep priced chapters trustworthy for readers, a Commons series unlocks the ability to charge once it has 500 library saves and at least 3 published chapters. Saves, not views, because saves are one per reader and show genuine intent to keep reading.
LitFic Originals is the curated track: submit your manuscript and if we accept it, your series carries the Originals badge, gets featured placement, and can charge for chapters from day one. Submissions are read by a small team, not an algorithm.
Pricing strategies that work for serials
The tools are deliberately flexible. Some authors keep everything free until the story finds its audience, then charge for early access: the newest two or three chapters cost coins, and each one becomes free as the next arrives, so patient readers never pay and eager readers fund the writing. Others keep a long free on-ramp (say fifteen chapters) and price the rest like a book. Others publish entirely free and treat LitFic as a discovery channel. All of these are supported; you choose per chapter and can change course whenever you like.
What the platform does for you
Scheduling lets you queue chapters ahead and keep a steady release rhythm, which is the single biggest driver of serial growth. Readers follow your series into their libraries and see updates in their feeds; every series also gets its own RSS feed so readers can subscribe in their feed reader of choice. The chapter editor preserves bold and italics when you paste from Word or Google Docs, supports author notes, and shows you what you will earn per unlock as you set a price. Reviews, ratings and comments live on your series page, and your author page collects everything you publish.
LitFic is part of the Ever After Group, which also runs Ever After Books, a real genre bookshop in the UK. That matters for one practical reason: this platform is run by people whose whole business is selling stories, not harvesting engagement.

Frequently asked questions
How much money can I earn publishing a web novel on LitFic?
You keep 50 percent of every premium chapter unlock, in real money. You set the chapter price yourself in LitCoins, where one coin equals 0.01 GBP: price a chapter at 50 coins (50p) and you earn 25p per reader who unlocks it. A chapter unlocked by 400 readers earns you 100 GBP. There is no cap, and free chapters cost your readers nothing.
How do I actually get paid?
Earnings accrue in pounds sterling in your author dashboard, not in points or credits. Connect a Stripe account and withdraw whenever your balance reaches 10 GBP. Stripe pays out to your bank like any other income.
Can anyone publish on LitFic?
Yes. The Commons track is open publishing: create a free account, set up your series and post chapters immediately. No application, no waiting list, and you keep the rights to your work.
When can I start charging for chapters?
LitFic Originals (curated series accepted via manuscript submission) can charge from day one. Commons series unlock earning once they prove a real audience: 500 library saves and at least 3 published chapters. That gate exists so readers trust that priced chapters are worth paying for.
Do I need to run a Patreon or Ko-fi as well?
No. Earning is built into the platform: readers unlock your premium and early-access chapters with LitCoins on the page where they are already reading. You are welcome to run outside support channels too, LitFic does not take a cut of those.
Who sets the price of my chapters?
You do, per chapter, in LitCoins. Common patterns are keeping the whole story free while it builds an audience, charging only for early access to the newest chapters, or pricing a premium arc. You can change your approach at any time.
