Privacy Policy

LitFic is operated by Ever After Books LTD, 144 Market Street, Dalton-in-Furness, LA15 8RQ, United Kingdom (part of The Ever After Group). This policy explains what personal data litfic.com and the LitFic mobile app (together, the "Service") collect, why, and the choices you have. We process personal data in accordance with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018.

What we collect and why

  • Account data: your email address, display name, optional photo and sign-in provider identifiers, collected via Firebase Authentication. Lawful basis: performance of a contract (providing the Service). A LitFic account is an Ever After account, so the same sign-in works across other Ever After Group services.
  • Reading activity: your library, follows, reading history and chapter progress, stored so the Service works and you can resume where you left off. Lawful basis: performance of a contract.
  • LitCoins and unlocks: your LitCoin balance, its transaction ledger and the chapters you have unlocked. The balance is shared with other Ever After Group services that use LitCoins. Lawful basis: performance of a contract and our legal obligations (accounting).
  • Author content: if you publish on LitFic, the series, chapters and profile you choose to make public, plus payout records where applicable. Lawful basis: performance of a contract.
  • Payment data: purchases are handled by Stripe. Your card details go directly to Stripe and never touch our servers; we keep the checkout reference, what was bought and when. Stripe is an independent controller for the payment itself.
  • Technical logs: IP address, request timestamps and error logs from our hosting provider (Google Firebase / Google Cloud). Lawful basis: legitimate interests (security and keeping the Service working).

We do not sell personal data and we do not run third-party advertising or third-party analytics trackers.

Where your data lives

Data is stored in Google Firebase (Authentication, Cloud Firestore, Storage) and Google Cloud under Google's standard data-processing terms. Where processing happens outside the UK it is protected by the UK Addendum to the EU Standard Contractual Clauses and Google's certified safeguards.

How long we keep it

Your account and its data are kept while the account exists. If you delete your account we remove it as described on the account deletion page, normally within 30 days, keeping only what the law requires us to keep (for example purchase records for tax purposes).

Your rights

Under UK GDPR you can ask for access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data, ask us to restrict or object to processing, and ask for a portable copy of data you provided. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk). To exercise any right, contact us via the Ever After contact page and mention LitFic.

Children

LitFic is not directed at children under 16 and we do not knowingly collect their data. Some stories carry content warnings and age guidance; respect them.

If this policy changes in a way that matters, we will note the new date at the top of this page.
