Letter 27

Poppy,

I was summoned to the Chief Librarian's office this afternoon. The Combat Guards found the many ash piles, the Book of Power that had been drained and destroyed, and the Devouring Servant still trapped in sublevel 17. I had some explaining to do.

I decided to be honest about everything with Marcus and about how much I needed answers. I told them everything I knew about the Devouring Servants and the staff of the Arcane Masters.

The Chief Librarian studied me for a moment, before admitting that she'd been wrong about me. That she should have listened. I suppose it's as close to an apology as I can expect.

The General told me I would always have a place among his recruits, if I fancied a change of career. But I instead put forward my desire to work again with plants, with Nella here at the library, and to my astonishment the Chief Librarian agreed.

I feel excited about the new possibilities, Poppy, and I also feel proud of myself too.
