Chapter 22
Letter 22

Poppy,
Thanks to the warm fire, I slept in this morning. I had to skip breakfast to make it to the library in time for my shift. Thankfully, nobody noticed that I was still fastening my cloak as I arrived.
After lunch, I slipped away to practise. From the books I've been reading about wraiths, I'm guessing that they are draining wraiths or shadow wraiths. Either way, they should be able to tell me why Marcus let them out, and what he was planning to do. I won't let them succeed.
So with fire and ice I've practised long into the night.
At first, fire was as difficult as ever. The memories rushed over me, but instead of fighting against them, losing control, I breathed through them, focusing on the steadiness of my power and the flame buried deep within. Heat settled over my body like an old blanket, and I became more comfortable. More controlled. I just hope I can keep hold of that feeling when I need it.
Forever your friend
Willow
