Chapter 45 — Sky Sovereign (Part 2)

Li Tianyu continued flying.

Behind him...

Thousands of eagles pursued relentlessly.

Lightning flashed across the sky.

Wind blades tore through the clouds.

Ice arrows fell like rain.

And at the very front of the flock...

The Golden Thunder Eagle King continued its pursuit.

Li Tianyu's expression was solemn.

Although it looked as if he was taking an unnecessary risk by fighting an entire flock of flying beasts...

That wasn't actually the case.

Inside his aperture...

He possessed several Rank Five expendable Gu worms.

If he were truly pushed into a desperate situation, he could use one of them.

Even the Golden Thunder Eagle King would have to pay a heavy price.

But Li Tianyu had no intention of doing so.

Those Rank Five expendable Gu worms were emergency trump cards.

They were extremely difficult to obtain.

Using one merely to injure a single Myriad Beast King would be wasteful.

Besides...

He wasn't here to kill the Golden Thunder Eagle King.

He was here to steal Gu worms from the rest of the flock.

As long as he could escape...

There was no reason to reveal his trump cards.

'I'll just have to be more careful.'

Li Tianyu suddenly turned.

Fire Path Killer Move — Crimson Soul Snatch!

Crimson flames erupted around him.

Hundreds of flaming weapons condensed in the air.

Lances.

Swords.

Spears.

Fire blades.

Fireballs.

Each weapon carried the theft ability of the killer move.

Li Tianyu directed them toward the weaker members of the flock.

The Hundred Beast Kings.

The Thousand Beast Kings.

And the ordinary eagles.

Whoosh! Whoosh! Whoosh!

The flaming weapons tore through the sky.

The eagles desperately activated their wild Gu.

Wind barriers.

Lightning shields.

Ice walls.

Various defensive methods appeared.

But some of the flaming weapons still broke through.

Boom!

Flames erupted around the injured eagles.

They screeched in pain.

Then...

Crimson flame spheres flew from their bodies.

Each sphere contained a stolen Gu worm.

Li Tianyu immediately intercepted them.

One after another...

The wild Gu worms entered his aperture.

But there was no time to celebrate.

The Golden Thunder Eagle King was already approaching again.

Li Tianyu immediately activated—

Fire Path Killer Move — Crimson Flame Soar!

His body transformed into a crimson streak.

A lightning bolt passed behind him.

Another struck his side.

BOOM!

Li Tianyu was thrown sideways.

His shoulder was badly burned.

Blood flowed from his mouth.

He immediately activated Flame Rebirth.

Crimson flames covered the injuries.

The damaged flesh gradually regenerated.

His breathing stabilized.

But before he could fully recover...

A sharp wind blade suddenly swept across him.

His arm was severed below the elbow.

Li Tianyu's expression tightened.

The severed limb fell through the clouds.

He immediately activated Flame Rebirth again.

Crimson flames gathered around the wound.

Flesh began to grow.

Bone reconstructed.

Blood vessels and nerves reconnected.

After several breaths...

A completely restored arm emerged from the flames.

Li Tianyu flexed his fingers.

Fortunately...

His primeval essence recovery was terrifyingly fast.

He could afford it.

He immediately resumed flying.

He couldn't afford to remain in one place.

The Golden Thunder Eagle King was the greatest threat.

But the thousands of other eagles were also dangerous.

Their sheer numbers meant attacks were coming from every direction.

Li Tianyu continuously weaved through the sky.

Crimson Flame Soar.

Dodge.

Turn.

Accelerate.

Crimson Soul Snatch.

Attack.

Steal.

Collect.

Escape.

Again and again.

At one point, several lightning attacks struck him simultaneously.

His defensive methods blocked most of them.

But one still struck his abdomen.

His body was thrown backward.

Blood poured from the wound.

Li Tianyu immediately activated Flame Rebirth.

The severe injury gradually closed.

He gritted his teeth and continued flying.

This wasn't a battle where he could stand still and exchange attacks.

His entire fighting style depended on movement.

As long as he kept moving...

He could survive.

As long as he survived...

He could continue stealing Gu worms.

Nearly an hour passed.

By now...

Li Tianyu had traveled an enormous distance from the original mountain range.

The Golden Thunder Eagle King was still pursuing him.

But the distance between them was finally beginning to increase.

Li Tianyu glanced backward.

The Myriad Beast King was still completely unharmed.

His previous attacks had failed to cause even the slightest meaningful injury.

'As expected.'

'My current strength isn't enough to break through its natural defense.'

There was no reason to continue attacking it.

Instead, he changed targets.

Crimson Soul Snatch!

Another wave of flaming weapons descended upon the weaker eagles.

More beasts were injured.

More Gu worms were stolen.

More crimson flame spheres appeared.

Li Tianyu collected them all.

Then...

He pushed Crimson Flame Soar to its limit.

Crimson flames erupted behind him.

His figure transformed into a streak of crimson light.

The distance between him and the eagle flock rapidly increased.

The Golden Thunder Eagle King pursued him for several more minutes.

But eventually...

It stopped.

Its enormous golden wings spread wide.

"Screeeeech!"

Its furious cry echoed across the mountain range.

Li Tianyu continued flying.

Only after the entire mountain range had disappeared behind him did he finally slow down.

He took a deep breath.

Then checked his aperture.

The harvest was substantial.

123 Rank Three Gu worms.

3,147 Rank Two Gu worms.

28,936 Rank One Gu worms.

A faint smile appeared on Li Tianyu's face.

This hunt had been considerably more dangerous than fighting ground-based beasts.

He had suffered several serious injuries.

He had even lost an entire limb.

But Flame Rebirth had allowed him to recover from them, provided he had sufficient primeval essence.

And most importantly...

He hadn't been forced to use his Rank Five expendable Gu worms.

Those remained his true emergency trump cards.

Li Tianyu looked back toward the distant mountains.

'Flying beast groups are troublesome.'

He paused for a moment.

'Next time, I'll look for another ground-based beast group.'

There was no reason to repeatedly take such risks when he could simply choose easier targets.

Li Tianyu activated Crimson Flame Soar once more.

His crimson figure disappeared into the clouds.

Behind him...

The mountain range slowly vanished into the distance.
