Chapter 51 — The Second Trial
The moment the Rank Three time path Gu Master died, Li Tianyu didn't immediately leave.
His gaze remained fixed on the inheritance site.
That Gu Master had possessed five Rank Three time path Gu worms, two Rank Four time path Gu worms, and even a Rank Five time path Gu worm.
That was far too much to have been obtained through ordinary means.
There was clearly something special about this inheritance.
Li Tianyu searched the surrounding area.
Soon, he found the entrance.
A faint time path aura continuously leaked from within.
He stepped inside.
The passage led deeper underground.
After walking for some distance, Li Tianyu arrived before an enormous stone door.
Ancient characters were engraved across its surface.
He examined them carefully.
Soon, he understood the meaning.
This inheritance had been divided into two tests.
The first test...
Was a test of talent and strength.
The Rank Three Gu Master he had encountered earlier had clearly passed the first test.
That was how he had obtained his Rank Four and Rank Five time path Gu worms.
Li Tianyu's eyes narrowed.
'So that's where he obtained them.'
He continued forward.
The stone door slowly opened.
Beyond it was an enormous underground chamber.
At the center of the chamber...
Was a gigantic crystal.
The crystal was completely transparent.
Inside it was a massive beast.
Its body was covered in strange markings resembling flowing clocks.
Even while frozen inside the crystal...
Its body continuously emitted a faint time path aura.
Li Tianyu's expression became solemn.
An ancient inscription appeared beside the crystal.
Second Trial — Defeat the Time Beast Emperor.
Li Tianyu smiled faintly.
'So this is the second inheritance.'
He approached the crystal.
The moment his hand touched it...
Crack!
A fracture appeared.
The entire crystal trembled.
Crack!
Crack!
Crack!
The cracks rapidly spread across its surface.
Then—
BOOM!
The crystal exploded.
A gigantic beast emerged.
Its body was several dozen meters long.
Its appearance resembled a massive ancient lizard, but countless strange time path markings covered its scales.
Its long tail swept across the ground.
Its eyes opened.
Time itself seemed to distort around its body.
Li Tianyu immediately became alert.
'Rank Five Beast Emperor.'
The beast let out a deep roar.
Then—
Time fluctuated.
Li Tianyu's expression changed.
The world around him suddenly slowed.
His movements became sluggish.
The beast instantly appeared before him.
Its enormous claws swung toward him.
Li Tianyu barely managed to react.
BOOM!
The claw tore through his body.
His arm was severed.
Blood sprayed across the ground.
Li Tianyu immediately activated—
Fire Path Killer Move — Flame Rebirth!
Crimson flames enveloped his body.
His severed limb rapidly regenerated.
Li Tianyu's expression became solemn.
'The time path abilities are effective.'
'But...'
He narrowed his eyes.
'Not for long.'
The temporal suppression disappeared almost immediately.
His body returned to normal.
The Beast Emperor attacked again.
A strange ripple spread outward.
Time stopped.
For an instant...
Li Tianyu's body completely froze.
It lasted only a few milliseconds.
But that was enough.
The beast's claws tore through his side.
A large portion of his flesh disappeared.
Li Tianyu immediately activated Flame Rebirth.
Crimson flames surged.
His flesh reconstructed itself.
His expression remained calm.
'Even time stop can only affect me for an extremely short period.'
The beast wasn't giving him time to think.
Another temporal fluctuation erupted.
This time...
Time accelerated around Li Tianyu.
The beast's movement became extremely fast.
It appeared before him in an instant.
Li Tianyu immediately activated—
Fire Path Killer Move — Crimson Flame Soar!
His body transformed into crimson light.
The beast's claws swept through empty air.
Li Tianyu narrowly escaped.
He immediately counterattacked.
Fire Path Killer Move — Crimson Soul Snatch!
BOOM!
Crimson flames erupted around him.
Hundreds of flaming weapons appeared.
Lances.
Swords.
Spears.
Fire blades.
Fireballs.
All of them contained the theft ability of Blazing Snatch Gu.
"Go!"
Whoosh! Whoosh! Whoosh!
The flaming weapons descended upon the Beast Emperor.
The beast activated several wild defensive Gu.
Time path barriers appeared around its body.
Some attacks were slowed.
Others were accelerated away.
Several flaming weapons were completely stopped.
But many still reached the beast.
BOOM!
Flames exploded across its body.
The beast roared.
Li Tianyu's eyes flashed.
A crimson flame sphere flew from the beast's body.
Inside...
Was a Rank Four time path Gu worm.
Li Tianyu immediately intercepted it.
'Got one.'
The Beast Emperor suddenly attacked.
Li Tianyu's expression changed.
He activated Crimson Flame Soar.
A temporal blade swept past his body.
It cut deeply into his shoulder.
Blood sprayed.
Li Tianyu immediately activated Flame Rebirth.
The wound rapidly closed.
He didn't waste a second.
Crimson Soul Snatch!
Hundreds more flaming weapons condensed.
They rained down upon the Beast Emperor.
Again.
And again.
And again.
The battle became extremely intense.
The Beast Emperor continuously used time path abilities.
Time acceleration.
Time deceleration.
Time stop.
Temporal blades.
Temporal distortions.
Some affected Li Tianyu.
Some barely affected him.
Some only lasted for a few milliseconds.
But every moment of weakness was dangerous.
Whenever time stop briefly froze his body...
The Beast Emperor immediately attacked.
Whenever time acceleration made the beast dramatically faster...
Li Tianyu had to rely on Crimson Flame Soar to escape.
Several times, his body was heavily injured.
Once, his entire abdomen was torn open.
Another time, one of his legs was nearly destroyed.
And once, a temporal blade cut through his chest.
But every time...
Flame Rebirth repaired the damage.
Li Tianyu's concentration remained extremely high.
He couldn't afford to become careless.
Even though the time path abilities were greatly weakened against him...
This was still a Rank Five Beast Emperor.
One mistake could still result in severe injuries.
At one particularly dangerous moment...
The Beast Emperor suddenly accelerated.
Its enormous body appeared directly behind Li Tianyu.
A temporal blade was already approaching his neck.
Li Tianyu immediately activated—
Fire Path Killer Move — Crimson Flame Bind!
BOOM!
Crimson chains erupted from the ground.
They wrapped around the Beast Emperor.
For an instant...
The beast was restrained.
But only for an instant.
The temporal force surrounding its body immediately began breaking the flames apart.
Crack!
One chain shattered.
Then another.
Li Tianyu didn't hesitate.
He activated Crimson Flame Soar.
His body shot away.
The remaining chains collapsed behind him.
'It can only buy me a few milliseconds.'
'But that's enough.'
He continued fighting.
Minutes passed.
Then dozens of minutes.
Li Tianyu repeatedly attacked the Beast Emperor while stealing its wild Gu worms.
One after another...
Rank Four time path Gu worms were extracted.
The Beast Emperor became increasingly weakened.
But the Rank Five Gu worms remained firmly inside its body.
'Rank Five Gu worms are still beyond the theft effect.'
Li Tianyu wasn't surprised.
His current Crimson Soul Snatch wasn't capable of reliably stealing Rank Five Gu worms.
Therefore...
He had to kill the beast.
The Beast Emperor roared.
Its body suddenly surged forward.
A terrifying temporal force spread across the chamber.
Li Tianyu immediately activated every defensive method available.
The beast's attacks struck him repeatedly.
His body was battered.
Blood flowed from his mouth.
Several bones shattered.
Flame Rebirth continuously activated.
Crimson flames constantly repaired his body.
His primeval essence was consumed rapidly.
Fortunately...
His recovery was equally terrifying.
The battle continued.
Eventually...
The Beast Emperor's movements became slower.
Its wounds accumulated.
Its wild Gu worms were gradually stolen.
Its physical strength was already declining.
Although it was a Rank Five Beast Emperor...
Its physical body was considerably weaker than ordinary beasts of the same rank.
That was the nature of this time path beast.
Its greatest strength lay in its time path abilities.
And those abilities were heavily suppressed against Li Tianyu.
Li Tianyu saw the opportunity.
He immediately attacked.
Crimson Soul Snatch!
Hundreds of flaming weapons condensed.
They simultaneously pierced toward the weakened Beast Emperor.
BOOM!
BOOM!
BOOM!
Flames exploded across its body.
The Beast Emperor let out one final roar.
Its enormous body staggered.
Then—
BOOM!
It collapsed.
The chamber became silent.
Li Tianyu remained standing.
His clothes were torn.
His body was covered in blood.
His breathing was somewhat heavy.
But he was alive.
He immediately reacted.
He knew exactly what would happen next.
The remaining Rank Five wild Gu worms would attempt to escape.
Li Tianyu immediately activated an interception-type killer move.
Crimson flames spread across the chamber.
The escaping Gu worms were surrounded before they could flee.
One.
Two.
Three...
Five Rank Five time path Gu worms were captured.
Li Tianyu quickly stored them inside his aperture.
He then examined the beast's corpse.
There were no more movements.
The inheritance's second trial...
Had been completed.
