6 am the next day, and Mike was still awake.
Trying to process what happened the night before.
Still reeling from the reality that his wife and step-mum to his children. Was in fact a serial killer.
That had taken the lives of four innocent women and what for?
Because she had been told that she wouldn’t be able to have children without medical help. Can someone break that fast? That quick?
All these were questions that Mike had been asking himself all night long.
And to be connected to the Johnson guy that Mike had been chasing for years. Was she playing with me? Did she know who her father was, and that he was the unknown killer all along? Is that possible?
“Mike. Mike.
“Sorry. I was just lost in thought,” Mike said. Nealy is jumped out of his skin.
“More like torturing yourself. Have you slept at all?” Dave asked.
“No. I couldn’t. Every time I closed my eyes. I just saw...
“Saw What?” Dave interrupted.
“Nothing. Let’s get something to eat.
Making his way to the cooker. Mike reached for the eggs, bacon, and the bread from the cupboard next to the cooker.
“Sure, I can eat. Frank, Angie, and the girls are on their way down as well.
Phone rings.
“Yeah.
“Mike. I need you at the station now,” Terry Said.
“Sure. I won’t be long.
“Girls, I need you to get ready, please. I’ve got to go into work. I am going to drop you off at your friend’s house. Okay?” Mike said.
“They can stay with us till you’re done.
“It’s ok. I want to be close to girls right now and it is easier for me. As I can get to the girls from station a lot faster.
Ten minutes later. The girls came bouncing down the stairs. Ready to get out of here.
“Peter, are you happy to lock up for me?” Mike asked.
“Of course.
“Thank you. I will be in touch soon.
Hugging everyone.
Mike promised to be in touch soon and to keep everyone up to date on Leila’s case.
But asked them not to leave till he got all clear from the superintendent.
Getting in the car, it took about 15 minutes to reach the police station. Shannon and Chloe's friend’s mum Marley met them at the station and picked both girls up.
Mike promised he would collect them once he was done.
As the girls waved goodbye. Mike made his way to the secure door and scanned his ID, and made his way inside once the door unlocked. Terry was waiting for him as soon as he walked through the door.
“Mike.
Leila is asking to speak to you. She said she will explain everything and why she did the killings,” Terry explained.
