Prison Escape

14th March officers were doing their morning routines, of checking on the prisoners, when officer Peterson, noticed that Leila Johnson was missing from her cell.

At around 7.02 am that morning the alarm was raised, the whole prison went into lock down, every area of the prison was searched including the cells, where all prisoners were removed from their cells, everything was tipped upside down. All, prison officers were also questioned and searched. CCTV was checked, and they noticed a woman who was using the prison guards ID of Beverly Hope. This person made their way straight though all locked gates and every officer that was put they to check all ID's to the face of the person showing it. But not one officer looked up or even asked for the ID. But there was one officer walking right behind her and that was Prison officer Kenneth. Watching all of the CCTV back, they saw Kenneth go into Leila cell with a uniform and something that looked like an ID badge and a black baseball cap. They were in there for around 15 minutes, then what looked like two prison officers came out of Leila cell and walked down the stairs, towards the first locked gate. Kenneth unlocked that gate, walking though with Leila and then though two more gates. When the arrived at the forth gate, the prison officer, sat at the desk didn't even look up. Just waved both though. After the last gate, both Kenneth and Leila then went out the main prison doors, where a car was waiting for Leila to get into. The CCTV noticed that Kenneth had said something to Leila but couldn't make out what it was. But the car then drove away in was black, ford fiesta Licence plate NX54 2HG.

"Call Detective Mike Lawson NOW," shouted the warden

"Sir, you need to get to HMP Wordworth now, Leila Lawson has escaped from Prison

"When

"Yesterday. Around 5.00pm, looks like she was helped by A prison officer call Kenneth. The CCTV shows him walking into Leila cell with prison uniform, baseball cap and another prison officers ID. The officer walked Leila out of the prison, then she got into a black Ford Fiesta and was driven away. The prison officers only noticed this morning when doing their morning checks.

How the hell did she manage to escape from the fucking prison itself, that fucking dad of hers is proberly involved," Mike thought to himself.

"Terry meet me at HMP Wordworth, Leila has fucking escaped yesterday evening and not been see since. Im guessing daddy came back to save her. In fact, find out where prison officer Kenneth live and bring him to the station. I want this son of a bitch arrested and charged with helping a felon escape.

"On it. How did the other prison officers not notice what was going on, or were they all in on the escape?

"Good question, I want everyone interviewed. Even the ones that weren't on duty yesterday.

Making his way to the prison, Mike was fuming and was wondering how this can happen, did Johnson have more people involved that they hadn't noticed or come across as yet? What was Kenneth's reason's, was he being black mailed or was he another killer as well. Has Leila been apart of this all along? or was she just a pawn in Johnson's game.

It took around 32 minutes for Mike to arrive at the Prison. When he did the warden Chase Walsh was waiting at the main entrance for him, Walsh greeted Mike with a firm hand shake, while guiding him towards his office.

"Please come in, we have the CCTV ready for you to view. Please belief me when I say this has never happened before, not while I have run this prison, Detective," Walsh explained

"Thank you. Tell me more about Prison officer Kenneth Williams what type of officer he is/was. Who he is? What his deal is?

"That's the thing Detective, Kenneth Williams has worked hard all his life, never had a mark on his record, never interacts with prisoners. Always on time. He has been here for over two decades Detective. The only time he had off, was when he daughter was dianosiged with a rare form of cancer.

"When was that

"About a year ago. The cancer was that rare that there wasnt any treatment here in UK so he had to go to America for the treatment and it was around £200,000 just for the treatment alone, I mean we all donated, Kenneth and his family flew over to there a few months after hsi daughter was dianoised, and stayed there for over two months.

"So, every prison officer her donated? Do you know how much he managed to raise in total?

"Yeah, around £150k

"So, how did he get the rest, because if the treatment was £200k and then he had flights, the extended stay, the food ect. That is over was he had raised," Mike explained

"When you speak to Kenneth Williams please find out where he got the funds to go to America and pay £200k plus expensenies for his daughter cancer treatment. The warden has informed me that, Kenneth's daughter , was dianosed with a rare form of cancer and the everyone here donated towards the fund, btu only raised about £150k, his daughter's treatment was £200k to begin with.

"Your thinking maybe someone did a favour and expected a favour back when needed.

"Yes. I do. I think Johnson has got Kenneth at a vunerable time, offered him a way out, then called in the favour when Leila got sent to prison. But how would he know which prison. Check if Leila was mean to come her to begin with and if she was suddenly transfered here.

"How many fucking people are involved in this. First we have Soule then we have Leila, I mean was she apart of all of this from the start. Was she just playing us?," Terry asked feeling frustrated

As, Detective Terry, made his way to Prison Officers Home, 42 Williamson Way , which is about ten minutes away from the prison itself. Terry knocked on the door

"Yes, can I help you

"Yes, are you Kenneth ...

"Yes, how can I help you

"I am here to speak to you regarding a prisoner Leila Lawson, I will need you to come to the local police station . As we have evidence that indicates that you helped Leila Lawson escape prison yesterday at 5.00pm.

"I never

"Save it, Kenneth we have you on CCTV taking a uniform, baseball cap and another prison officer's ID into the cell with you, and when you came out, Leila was in a prison uniform. You walked her straight through 5 locked gates, not once notifiying the other prison officers. Then you came out the main prison doors, where you told Leila to get into the shut up and get into the car and that you never wanted to see her face again

"So, once again, please come with me down to the station when you will be formally charged and interviewed.

It took around five minutes to make it to Bishopgates Police Station. As, Detective Terry showed his ID, he was allowed in bringing Kenneth within into the custody suite, where Kenneth was placed under arrest for helping a prisoner escape. He was then taken to an interview room 2.

"Sit, this interview is being recorded on 14th March at 10.31am in interview room 2 with Detective Terry Maker and Officer Shona Jones.

"Kenneth do wish to have a solicitor presents? if you can not afford one, one can and will be provided for you

"No, I am fine, I don't need a solicitor," Kenneth said

"Tell us why you helped Leila Lawson, escape from HMP Wordworth on 13th March at 5.00pm

"Look, I am normally a straight down the line guy, but you have to understand that I would do anything to help my children. My oldest daughter was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer and I had tried to raise all the money. £200k just for the treatment alone, we re-morgated the house, sold our cars, emptied all of our savings, investments and it still wasnt enough. The go - fund me only raised £150k, we still had over £150k to raise. As, we had to stay in America for over two months, while she was going though chemo, and eveything else they were pumping into my child. Johnson came to me, about two months ago , offered the rest and just said that he didn't want the money back, just wanted me to remember that he helped my daughter and he expects me to help his when needed. I didnt even know that he knew where I worked.

"When he Johnson contact you about Leila

"Two days ago. He said, my turn was up and said he needed his daughter to be released on 13th March. So, I did what was needed to be done. I dont feel bad about it, if I am honesty. As, daughter is getting treatment she needs and is doing really well. If I have to go to prison then so be it. This guy may be a bad guy but he helped save my daughters life," Kenneth said

"Do you know where they went or are going," Asked Terry

"No, I was only told to get Leila out of prison and into the car. That is what I did, nothing more, nothing less," Explained Kenneth

Take me back to when Johnson first contacted you and how he made contact?

"It was on a Thursday, I was in the cafe down the street, I go there to meet up with my friend Brian, have done for 20 years now.

"So, every Thursday you have met Brian at the Cafe down the road, and I take it everyone that knows you well enough, knows this?

"Yeah, everyone does, it isn't a secret. You think this Johnson guy was watching me

"I think he was watching all prison officers to see who he could bribe to help him with his plan and you were the weakest link Kenneth," Detective Terry explained.

"He came and sat with me and introduced himself. He said he could help me and my daughter get the care she needs, that he would give me the other £150k so we could go and get my daughters treatment straight away and that flights were already booked for us and that they only thing he wanted from me was a favour when he needed it. I asked what type of favour and Johnson just said do I want my daughter to live or not. That his favour wouldn't be a big one. Just a little help where required. Listen, this was the only person willing to help and he had the means too. If I have to put my life on hold for her's. I will do every single time," Kenneth explained

"Thank you Kenneth, you will be held for now in the police cell, till you can be aligned and bailed. But you wont be going back to work.

"So, will I be going to prison myself?

"That depends on the courts and what they want to do with you, you did what you needed to do to protect and save your child. I think most parents would do the same in your position, I will speak to the DA and see what they are wanting to do, but we cant promise anything," Terry replied.

Once, Kennett was in his cell, Terry called Mike" Hey, Johnson got hold of Kenneth at his weakest. He must of been watching all of the prison officers to see which one he could break. All, Johnson asked for in return was a favour . Which that favor was helping Leila escape," Terry explained

" For fuck sake, so my unborn kid is out there with her mother. We have no idea where they are and what they are doing. I dont know if she is safe, I dont know what is going on," Mike suddenly screamed down the phone.

"We will find them. They are bound to make a mistake soon enough mate. These guys are all over the place, two many people are involved Mike. Someone is bound to make a mistake sooner rather than later," Terry said but not believing it himself.
